Treatment or removal of contaminants from site is not always practical or the most cost effective solution. Specific on site engineering works such as encapsulation, cut off walls, leachate or gas collection/dispersal systems etc, can mitigate environmental liability and allow a site to be re-developed.

Because the source of contamination remains, confidence in the design and application of such works is all the more important.
